That grade is elite territory for a defensive lineman who has only played three games. He is not just showing up; he is dragging the unit with him.
Head Coach Brent Key knows exactly what he has found in this young player. Key called McCoy a “pleasant surprise” and noted the “buy-in he has to the football team.” The coach admitted that winning changes practice, and McCoy is the guy who makes that change stick. “He’s one of those guys that’s contagious,” Key said, pointing out the gap between players who work hard and those just going through the motions.
