A major loss for the Hawks
Marc Stein of the Stein Line substack blog reported that Korver is leaving the franchise. This news broke on Monday. He has spent four years working in an executive role here. In 2022, he initially became a director of player affairs and development with the team. He later moved up to become the assistant general manager. It is a huge void to fill.
This isn’t just about one person leaving. The team is losing too much brain power in a single summer. Per Brad Rowland of the Locked on Hawks podcast, this is the second major loss in the front office recently. Bryson Graham already left to take a role with the Bulls. The Hawks are losing too many leaders at once.
The end of an era
Korver was more than just an executive. He was a legend on the court for Atlanta. He played 4.5 seasons here and helped the team reach the Eastern Conference finals. He even earned an All-Star nod during the 2014-15 season. Throughout the entire league, he stood as one of the most feared shooters.
Even though he is moving on, there is no bad blood. According to reports, Korver is leaving on good terms.
