Braves Sign Reliever Danny Young to 1-Year Split Contract

Date:

Young will be paid at a salaried rate of $925,000 when at the major league level, per an MLB Trade Rumors report. He’s set to miss approximately the first half of the 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in May.

It’ll be a return to Atlanta for Young, 31, who had a 0.82 ERA over nine appearances spanning 11 innings with 12 strikeouts and two walks over the 2022-23 seasons for the Braves.

The left-hander did not have as much success the last two seasons with the New York Mets, posting a 4.50 ERA over 52 appearances out of the bullpen. He made a career-high 42 appearances in 2024, throwing 37 2/3 innings with a 4.54 ERA, 48 strikeouts and 18 walks.
